Non-Comic Artwork?! o.O | |
- - |
I know, right? Who would've guessed that getting new-ish equipment would lead to stuff like digital sketching while sitting on the couch after I get some work done. o.O
Seriously, though... I've been enjoying putting my new Tablet PC Thingie through its paces. I can't say that I've been pumping out hit after hit but I do have a couple of things I dug enough to post up for others to see.
- Open-Shell Start Button Mog Mod Something I noticed on my last Lifebook was running Win10's basic Start button was a pain while using the pen. Not in a massive "I Can't Do Things!!" sort of way. More in that the alphabetical menu with a massive app area didn't really work with how I roll.
Enter Open-Shell - a Start button replacement I've used since the first gen of Windows 8. It allows me to set things to the older Start button/menu layouts. In this case, I'm rolling with making my new Lifebook look like an updated Win9X machine (Think styled after Windows 95 or 98). Instead of trying to redo the original Windows Start button graphic, I built my own featuring a modified Moogle sprite from Final Fantasy 5.
Why? 'Cause it's my new MogNet Tablet PC... and Moogles are fun. = )
Along those same lines, I started in on a new graphic for my system's wallpaper. Normally, I'd run an existing pic or find a neat image I found online. This time I leaned into the whole Older Tech aspect and built my own "Intel Inside"-inspired Moogle pic.
There's a final version of this on my Main system but I'll post it up once I finish up the process video for it. You know... those things I used to make. = P
- Deep Sea Explorer (Labko Base) Recently, Character Design Forge dropped an excellent video on - Surprise! - Character Design! It was a good look at the fundamentals underlying character bases (Like Nintendo's Mii or Kid Robot's Munny figures). Brookes ended the video with a nice little surprise: An original Art Base and Printable Figure.
I liked the design language and figured I'd do a version of my own later in the week. Well... I'm currently putting the finishing touches on my design and you can see where I ended up after about two hours of doodling in the linked pic.
If you want to watch the video (Which you should. It's good stuff!), you can catch that along with links in the description to the Labko 2D and 3D printable files here. -> [Art Vid LinkTastic!]
That's about it from me for now. I have some file exporting to do before I get back to next week's inks. It was humid yesterday and neither my shoulder nor my pens were up to simply working through it.
Remember: Stay Safe. Wear a Mask. Get vaccinated if you can. Get a booster if you're already good on all that. And remember to keep your head up.
'Till next time! = )
