Sept/Pre-Drawlloween Update

Email Me Prophet on Twitter Prophet on Bluesky -
Since I want to keep this one short over here, I'm going to get down to the basics real quick-like. You can read a longer version of this over at my Patreon: [Blog LinkTastic!]

What have I been up to since the last update:

- Cleaning!

Seriously. I've been on a cleaning & organizing kick lately. Not that it's helped yet as I'm kinda' working toward the goal of making it easier to work... but I yet to do that work 'cause I've found other things to clean & places to put stuff for easier access. -.-

- Kit Building!

I've also filled time with working on other kits. I just got in a bunch I had preordered last month and snapped them up on Twitch. Why my 'Net Connection was cool with broadcasting that but gives me trouble when gaming or streaming work, I have no idea. Again, it wasn't comic related.

- Biff Turnaround Sheet!

I've finally gotten around to doing a turnaround sheet of Biff for reference purposes. I'm going into this with the idea that it can help other folks 'cause I have access to materials others don't and I think this is less of a jerk move than going "Just read the strip if you want to draw him!". I'll have that posted soon enough. = )

As for the other thing mentioned in the Newspost's title, Drawlloween is almost upon us! I have a couple of lists to choose from and I'll settle on something on the night of the 1st when I sit down to draw stuff. Not sure if I'll record video of these, though. Not that it wasn't fun but it was a lot of work.

I'm also going to take this recent return to drawing stuff to try working on the strip again. I scrapped the one that I had left off on when i started this whole break. I kept freezing up when I tried to work on it so I'm simply starting on a fresh page. No need to stick with something that's loaded with weird mental baggage, right?

That's all for now. I've some coffee to reheat & a silly vampire side view to do.

Remember: Stay Strong. Stay Aware. Stay Safe.

'Till next time! = )

Update on... Things! o.O

Email Me Prophet on Twitter Prophet on Bluesky -
It has been longer than I had hoped between these posts but yeah... for a hot minute, I woke up thinking it was Monday. o.o

Anyhoo! I finished building my setup. Not only did the extra shelf space help me literally gain floor space U haven't been able to easily access in years, the whole thing cost less than the nice L-shaped computer desks with limited space I kept finding that really started this whole thing. A little over $150 in two garage shelving units, some screws, an LED strip and some pegboard (with pegs). The good L-shaped desks with a bit of storage and a non-glass top I found run $200 and up and they Still can't do what I did.

By the by, here's a slightly older pic of the final setup -> [Desk LinkTastic!]

As for what I've been doing that wasn't cleaning my perpetually messy room? Well... I've been building the Gundam I've wanted to build for years. It's still using an Astray as its base... just not the Blue Frame. A non-specialized version of those is incredibly hard to find in the updated tooling so I went with a Red Frame - the Astray that Keeps On Getting Re-released.

I had parts for the AGE-1 Razor that I ordered a good five years ago (?) and I ended up getting the new GAT-04 Windam kit to fill in for the GN-X kit I could never find in stock. So this Astray build will be Mostly Gundam SEED kits with bits from an AGE kit. The hardest part is the modding to get things to fit but I'm making progress.

I've also been doing some other builds that I had either laying around or picked up recently. I finally got a Mobileharo for my desk & I scooped some Gundam Base exclusives during the Gundam.Info online Gunpla Expo. They had a nearly life-sized Haro "Container" (it's a cookie jar) that will hopefully be mine soon. It ships sometime in Sept. along with a couple of SD kits and a Haropla in my fave shade of blue... which just happens to be the same as the Gundam Base's blue and why it's dangerous for me to shop there in the future. o.O

Lastly, I Am trying to kick myself back into comics mode by working on a second Sims 4 Skinpack. I wanted to finish it before this current story bit dropped but, like everything else, things didn't go according plan. It'll be a pack of as-comic-accurate-as-I-can-muster skeletons that don't require anything but the base game.

It'll have a separate Polly skin, a "Standard" skeleton skin and some effects for the hands so you can give your Sims that Touch of Death shading. = )

That's about it for now. I'm going to keep one trying to write and picking at the next strip until it's good to go. For now, I'm going to at least work on the skeleton skins. That way I'm still working on Biff stuff and have that in my head while I work whatever brainworms out.

'Till next time!

-Insert Catchy Title Here-

Email Me Prophet on Twitter Prophet on Bluesky -
I had some jokes planned but I'm going to scrap those and just get down to business...

I need a break. An Actual break, not a "Working Vacation" were I keep trying to work on the comic to no avail. -.-

The scripts are there but I can't seem to focus on them. Instead of banging my head against that wall, I've taken this time to get some Much needed organization done. I traded out my old 4' by 4' computer desk from the 80's for a garage shelving unit. Crazy as that sounds, it wasn't a terrible idea.

It's 4' wide, 6' tall and has 2' deep shelves. That gives me a 2' by 4' desk with enough shelf space above to hold boxes, parts and model kits that were previously stacked haphazardly by my window. A second unit is on the way with 18" deep shelves. That'll be mostly for my books, my Mac G3 and a few collectibles. And my big ol' printers so I can get them off of stuff that can't easily be secured to the wall. o.O

In less annoying news...

ComiXology is running a Small Press Mega Sale that started on Aug. 7th and will run straight through Sept. 8th! You can find it here. -> [Comics LinkTastic!]

Why am I telling you this? 'Cause I'm part of it! You can pick up the Biff books for 99 cents a pop. That's effectively half off the cover price! What's not to love? = D

Don't answer that. o.o

Anyhoo! I've got some stuff to attend to. More cleaning, some writing if I can swing it... maybe work a little more on parts for the Astray Prophet Mk2 build. Things are kinda' up in the air until I get the next shelving unit in, installed and filled.

I will keep the fires burning over here with updates and whatnot while I'm effectively away from the strip. I'll try not to go silent here or over on the Biff account.

'Till next time!
