I mentioned before that I spent a little too long playing with my new hackable toy. Well... here it is -> The Polaroid PMID4300. It's not a crazy powerhouse of an Android-based mini tablet but that's not really why I got it. For a while now, I've had my eyes on these cheap little Android-based items popping up all over. The Polaroids and NextBooks have really swayed me. They're neat little things and, thanks to a fairly strong hacking community, they're fun little gadgets for a guy like me.

Thanks to the work of Finless over at the FreakTab.com forums, I not only got root on my device but I also killed/erased all the power eating bits that I don't need on my non-phone tablet. I recommend Test ROM No.13, installing Root Explorer and going with the Amazon apps store. That's what worked for me. = )

The system runs Android 2.2 - Froyo - so it's missing stuff like Google Play and whatnot but folks are hard at work trying to get that goodness functioning. If they do, you know I'll drop some info if I can get it to go on mine. For now, I've got laundry to fold and another two strips to draw.
