The past few week have been interesting. I've had a couple of really strong story ideas running through my head that I finally decided I Needed to get down on paper... or at least get written down into a file that I can access later. They have very little to nothing to do with Biff so it can't really shoehorn them into the comic. It'd be kinda' tough to explain how those things could happen within that existing world.
The "Satanic Panic" project would be a rough transition. What I've got so far for the demon dude I've drawn previously is more than just "He's freaking out because lost his keys". Now it involves being accidentally summoned to the Mortal Plane after a series of terribly unlucky things happening to a guy who is - by all accounts - not terribly unlucky. This story is of his Absolute Worst Day.
Then you have what I'm calling "Mostly Ghostly" (like the song, not the series I completely forgot existed until I thought I had a good title). This Might be easier to work into the strip as like a LUSR case file. It's about a lady who died trying to fix up her house decades ago and a guy who buys said house to do the same. They fall in love after the usual misunderstandings that could happen with a haunting.
The former is tricky 'cause it requires us to suddenly forget that Biff has had encounters with demons and there's a whole system at work that guides these kind of things. The idea that a demon could find himself Earthside without some kind of alert going out doesn't exactly work all too well. Just look at Carl, Rez and their deal.
The latter is a story that honestly needs more room to breath than my comic strip can give it. I see this as more of a full page thing or possibly a book. Singles or Double Decker strips won't cut it. It really needs a format change.
So what I've done is write up two solid story ideas that, given my current track record of doing larger non-Biff comics and stories, probably won't happen.
I have effectively written "Nothing". o.O
And that's not a bad thing, either.
Biff was originally an idea I didn't think would go anywhere. A side gig to the big show that were my full page Furry comics. Instead, Biff won out. That doesn't mean coming up with new non-Biff stuff is bad but I do still feel kinda' bummed that I spent time on them instead of new Biff scripts.
But Hey! Getting those out of my head helped as now I'm clear to write the stuff I need to instead of going "Oh! I got this Great Idea! It has nothing to do with Biff and the Crew." all the time. = )
Now I'm off to stretch and get some non-Biff artwork done. It's for [REDACTED] so expect to see that later on. The next few strips are loaded up and ready to roll so I'm free to spend a Little bit of time on other things.
Remember: Stay Safe. Wear a Mask. Get vaccinated if you can.
'Till next time! = )
